Unusually slow load times?

Is it me or do the images load pretty slow (.i.e. 1.5 to 3 seconds), almost as if the files were to large?

To me something doesn't seem right, but I doubt AitThemes would have let it slide either. I've tried it on two desktops and my iPhone and it all feels kinda slow; like if I were at Starbucks with a 1.5Mb/s down connection, only I have 35Mb/s cable connection.
